The Touch Research Institute (TRI) has published many articles on how massage therapy has dramatically and positively impacted a wide range of populations including Students, Parents, Seniors, Depressed Adolescents, and elders in Nursing homes. Therapeutic Massage Therapy has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety and enhance EEG patterns of alertness in students. The decreased Stress/Anxiety and increased alertness has helped to increase the speed and accuracy on math computations for students who received 15 minutes of chair massage 2 times per week for 5 weeks as compared with students who did not.

Research shows that massage reduces "acting out" behavior, improves sleep patterns, and reduces depression in adolescents. Elders in nursing homes have a more positive outlook and feel better physically when receiving massage consistently.

The TRI research findings on the positive impact of massage and on the health of individuals of all ages, have been compelling. Research on the impact of massage continues to be funded because of the recognition of the role of massage in preventive medicine.

As stated in the LIFE article on the power of touch, "And now science is confirming what we knew in our hearts that... massage is medicine."
